Planning A Fall Harvest Party

Planning A Fall Harvest Party
The leaves are turning gold and red, which means fall has come. Now is a great time to have a Harvest Party prior to your big Thanksgiving celebration. Below are a few ideas to hold a lovely get together with your family and friends.

1. Food – Make a great salad that includes ingredients from a early fall garden. Cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes are great additions, that are generally still growing this time of year! Your guests will love the fresh salad you have made. Food from the garden always tests better than store bought foods. If you have a small fire pit as it gets dark make s’mores by the fireside. If possible set this up in your garden or patio area. People will love the warm fire with the crisp air.

2. Favors/Decorations – Collect falling leaves from around your yard, or at a nearby park. Decorate the table with them. With larger leaves, tie wire ribbon to their stems and write guest names on the ribbon with a black marker. This makes for an unique place card. Also, take leaves and press them between two pieces of wax paper. Then cut them out and hang them around the house. The wax paper is great for preserving the leafs and keeping their brilliant colors.

3. Games – Why not add a game to your harvest party. A great game to play is guess the leaf. Collect leaves and glue them down to heavy card stock. Then put a number next to each leaf. Have guests figure out what leaf belongs to what type of tree. Guests will have fun figuring out easy leaves such as a Maple leaf, verses more difficult leaves to identify.

Hopefully the few tips above gave you some ideas on how to share the cooling of the season with your family and friends.

Choose the Right Food Combinations for Healthy Digestion

Choose the Right Food Combinations for Healthy Digestion

One of the things that most people do not know about eating is that if you combine the wrong combination of foods, it can have negative effects on your health, especially when it comes to your digestion. There are rules and formulas that you can follow to give you better digestion, but many people are not even aware of them and they may seem foreign to some.

I’m sure that we have all seen the ads on television for ways to treat heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach and diarrhea and all of these ailments can be prevented by making sure that we eat the right combination of foods. Digestion is a very important function in our bodies and we must give it close attention. If we eat the right combination of foods with our meals, our bodies will have a much easier time absorbing them and it will be a much more pleasurable experience for us.

Lets look at a few rules that we should follow while mixing foods.

Proteins and starches should not be mixed as proteins require acid and starches require alkaline stomach fluids.

Fruits should be eaten by themselves and on an empty stomach.

Eat vegetables with anything that you desire except fruits.

Make sure that you drink a glass of water at least half an hour or so before your meal and do not drink water with your meal.

Eat fruits that are high in enzymes such as bananas, avocados, pineapples and mangos.

Salads need to be eaten before your main meal as the enzymes that they contain will help breakdown the other foods that you will eat in your main meal.

If you are one of those individuals who are on a diet, drinking water may not completely satisfy your cravings , but it will keep you from snacking and it will increase your intake of water.

It is suggested that we all should try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

The biggest advantage of knowing the right healthy food combinations to eat is that it can prevent indigestion, acid reflux and other symptoms that can hamper your digestive system. It will also put you on the right track for healthy cooking and eating habits. This will not only benefit your body and help you feel good, it will also improve your moods and make you happier.

Anyone who suffers from physical discomfort over a long period of time can also experience mental and emotional strain and this is not healthy for them. So you see, if you do not know the right combination of foods to eat, it can lead to many other problems in your body.

Bad food combinations can also have other harmful effects on the body. If acid reflux problems are not corrected, it can cause cancer cells to develop in the body. This is one of the most drastic examples, but never the less, it can happen. There are some people who end up having to have surgery for acid reflux in order to stop cancer cells from developing. Our bodies must have a balance maintained in order to enjoy maximum health.

It is very important to you that you take the best possible care of your body and develop healthy cooking and eating habits in order to help you live life to the fullest and achieve your goals in life.

I hope that you found this information useful and if you would like more information on ways to live healthy, then please visit eating healthy web site where you will find great information to help you live a long and healthy life.

Food Smarts: The Weight Loss Savvy Quiz

Food Smarts: The Weight Loss Savvy Quiz

When it comes to successful weight loss, knowledge is power. You can’t ever know too much about what you put into your body or have too many strategies for enjoying a healthful relationship with food.

Ready for a handful of smart eating facts and strategies to add to your weight loss arsenal? Challenge yourself with this quiz!

True or False?

1. One of the most important snacking strategies is to buy a variety of different bags and containers of food.

2. Pears have more fiber than any other fruit.

3. Short, wide glasses are better for visualizing a reasonable beverage portion than tall, thin ones.

4. Past, unsuccessful efforts at weight control can be a predictor of present day results.

5. You know you need to do something to be healthier and leaner but don’t know where to start and you don’t want to slide back to failure again.

My Answers

1.

One of the most important snacking strategies is to buy a variety of different bags and containers of food: FALSE (for more than one reason!).
First of all, no matter what the food, don’t choose that economy-sized bag if your goal is weight loss. Such a container comes with no limits to a portion–until the container is empty.

Second, too much variety creates temptation. I’d say the better strategy is to stick with just a few snacks so that maybe a little boredom will set in. That’s not so bad if eating less will result!

And finally, the whole “bags and containers” idea implies that the snack foods in question aren’t fresh, which means they’re more likely to be loaded with preservatives and sugars. Real foods–whole, fresh, organic, nutritious–tend to come in nature’s own “packaging.” Think fruits and nuts.

2. Pears have more fiber than any other fruit: TRUE.
When I learned this fact, I, too, was surprised. One medium pear (with the skin on) has more fiber than just about any other fruit, 5.5 grams.

3. Short, wide glasses are better for visualizing a reasonable beverage portion than tall, thin ones: FALSE.
A study by Cornell University professor Brian Wansink showed that the shape of a glass affects how much people perceive to be in it. Even after practicing the appropriate amount, test subjects who were asked to pour 1.5 oz. of liquid into a short, wide glass added between 10% and 30% more than they did when given a tall, thin glass.

That extra measure can add up, so do your body a favor. Plenty of water is always a great choice, but the next time you pour a drink that packs calories, reach for a tall, thin glass to limit unwanted quantities–and weight.

4. Past unsuccessful efforts at weight control can be a predictor of present day results: TRUE.
Sometimes reflecting on weight-loss history can be disheartening–so much so that it discourages a person from making any new attempts. If you look at past efforts and see nothing other than the failure at the end, the whole memory is of a negative experience.

But a shift in mindset can set you on the path to success! Look again at those previous weight loss attempts, but don’t focus on the disappointments. Instead, think about what you learned: How did you feel at the beginning? How long did it take to see the first few pounds drop off? When was it most difficult to stick to the plan? What was the trigger that finally pushed you to override your plans? How did you feel when you abandoned ship? This is valuable knowledge. Use it to craft a plan that’s truly sustainable.

5. You know you need to do something to be healthier and leaner but don’t know where to start–and you don’t want to slide back to failure again: TRUE.
More often than not, this is accurate. When I ask my patients and coaching clients why they procrastinate beginning a new weight plan, they often say they fear of failing once again. Understandable as it is, this reason keeps people stuck in an unhealthy, unhappy place without anywhere to turn.

But don’t forget, there are also weight loss success stories, people much like you who’ve faced many of the same challenges. They’ve found a way to make it work, and so can you. Take heart. Given the right attitude and the right support, a leaner, healthier, more vibrant YOU is indeed possible.

Health Benefits of Apricot Seeds

Health Benefits of Apricot Seeds

Apricot seeds are nutritious to our health. It contains an essential nutrient Amygdalin or Vitamin B12, which attacks cancer cells and prevents the disease. Though there are several foods that contain amygdalin, they are not commonly used in our Western diet. People in other parts of the world eat a diet rich in amygdalin and it is proved that they are free from the cancer to a large extent. Therefore, the best possible way to get amygdalin is to include raw apricot seeds in your diet.

Including amygdaline in regular diet remains to be a controversial subject, as amygdaline imprisons a poisonous constituent called cyanide. The apricot seed is however unique in nature. It too has cyanide, but it is locked into the amygdaline compound. Therefore, it does not harm the normal living tissue. You can understand this concept easily with the help of an example.

You may know that the common salt has a poison (chlorine) locked up in it. Too much of salt consumption at a time would make you ill. However, salt contains some nutrients also. Therefore, it is a fact that any substance may contain poisonous constituents. Amygdaline is actually less toxic than salt and sugar.

You may be shocked to know that your body is creating cancer cells all the time. However, your natural immune system fights against those cells and defeats them. Sometimes, the body may be exposed to carcinogens. Then the cancer cells multiply rapidly, making it difficult for the immune system in the body to handle. Amygdalin works together with your immune system and hits the cancer cells directly. The cancer cells have an enzyme called rhodanese that unfastens the cyanide in the amygdalin and thereby destroys the cancer cells.

The normal living tissues do not contain this enzyme, so poison in the amygdalin does not harm that healthy cell.

The apricot seeds are typically not good to taste; they have slight bitterness. The amygdalin or vitamin B12 in the seeds is responsible for that bitter taste. If you need to consume large amount of apricot seeds, you can eat them in empty stomach, so that you can avoid the chance of nausea. You can also eat some types of fruits like peaches, plums, apples, apricots, cherries and pears that would help to neutralize the effect of amygdaline and to prevent the vomiting sensation.

If you have gone through chemotherapy or radiation treatment, you need to strengthen your immune system first. Taking carrot juice or spinach juice can be beneficial in improving the immune system.

Wholesale Cake Supplier

Wholesale Cake Supplier
These days virtually everything can be bought and sold in wholesale. This additionally applies to pastries and cakes. Gone are the times when in order to satisfy your sweet tooth you had to visit your native corner bakery every time. These days is that the age of wholesale cakes. These retailers provide you cakes on wholesale or bulk for private use like parties and events and conjointly for industrial use.
You’ll be able to buy wholesale cakes for your restaurant or diner or cafe or merely stock them at home. Your native grocery stores even keep package cakes. These are a type of wholesale cakes. Bakeries never completely cope with wholesale cakes but they are doing take bulk orders. Most bakeries cannot even build additional than a particular amount of cake as a result of of various reasons. However, the larger bakeries and cake retailers are capable of dealing with huge orders.
One major reason why many cake shops are unable to go into wholesale cakes is that the stringent requirements necessary to take care of quality. A ton of effort and management is concerned in mass-manufacturing cakes and pastries. The kitchens should be keep crystal clean, the bakers and staff need to pay attention to 1st aid since working with sharp instruments continuously poses a high risk to physical health. Furthermore, bakeries that mass-manufacture cakes can need a lot of than 10 employees so, creating it mandatory for the bakery to fulfill all safety laws and gift themselves for normal hygiene and food checks. The bulk of restaurants, cafes and tiny cake retailers don’t make cakes as the men and house required for his or her preparation is not one thing each place has. The following best issue for these businesses to try and do is to urge into a traffic congestion with a cake search and get wholesale cakes. There are various cake retailers where I live in Melbourne that cater to wholesale requirements. The bigger ones can easily offer to a large restaurant chain while the smaller ones are good for cafes and dinners.
One amongst the main reasons that restaurant homeowners outsource to a wholesale cake supplier is that baking is a time consuming and precise task that must be done terribly well to style very good. A tea or occasional is so much additional enjoyed with a piece of cake, and if it is not good, then customers will not come as often. Buying cake in permits for simple rotation of your choice too, which can satisfy the curiosity for different choices in regular guests. There is one restaurant I significantly like, sensible coffee, but solely a caramel slice or one different cheese cake that is yummy, thus I don’t go there as typically as I’d if they’d a better selection.

Taking the National Debate Local – Health Insurance In Columbus, Ohio

Taking the National Debate Local – Health Insurance In Columbus, Ohio

Dominating the news, lately: the Republicans vs. the Democrats, determining the fate of the health care system of our country, and debating the President’s signature issue of universal health care for all Americans.

Ohio voters have a strong-spoken advocate, Republican John Boehner, who is arguing the Republican position that the Democrats’ suggested reforms will be too expensive, not economically sustainable, and will equate to a massive government-controlled bureaucracy.

But how does this affect workers at a local level?

In Columbus, Ohio, some of those who are most affected are middle-aged men. Studies and research show that these men are facing levels of unemployment that they haven’t seen before; these men, aged 50-60, are being laid off at a time when they are often major breadwinners for their families, who depend on their employer-sponsored benefits.

Rates of unemployment in Columbus are similar to the national average, but with employers such as GM closing plants (in Ontario) statistics can “hit home” as educated and skilled workers are laid off.

Even more difficult, these men are fighting younger workers, often willing to accept lower salaries, in the job market. The consequences can be very difficult for both these men, searching but not finding jobs, and for their families.

So are there any solutions for affordable health insurance in Ohio? There are; some of these families are benefiting from the government’s program that extends unemployed workers’ health benefits an additional nine months, through COBRA. In fact, this extension of benefits is one of the issues that is currently up for debate in Congress; it’s one Ohio voters should pay attention to, and anyone who has lost their job since September of 2008 should be sure to inquire of their employer about the benefits still available through the company.

Columbus is actually the home to the Ohio Department of Insurance, a government agency that provides regulation and education to consumers regarding their options for insurance; they give the approval for every Ohio health insurance plan and regulate Ohio state health insurance quotes. The good news: the list of insurers, for Ohio citizens, available for download through this department’s website, includes over 2000 companies. But consumers looking for low cost Ohio health insurance (especially if they are between jobs) need not do all the comparison shopping for these companies on their own.

The first step laid-off workers should take, if they do not have the option of employer-sponsored coverage, is to determine what is most crucial for their family or situation: prescription drug coverage, network doctors, or at the minimum, coverage for catastrophic illness or accident. A simple internet search provides fairly comprehensive results (try typing in “Ohio Health Insurance Quotes” or “Health Insurance Columbus Ohio”). Keep in mind that by keeping the search local, you are more likely to find doctors in the network whom you’re already familiar with, and in-network doctors almost always mean cost savings.

One positive that the national debate has created: insurance companies and agents today understand the importance of providing a range of affordable health insurance options. A good agent or site can provide side-by-side comparisons, ranking the items most important to the consumer.

Until the economy improves, this do-it-yourself researching opportunity (with the help of the sites who have sprung up to help) may be Columbus residents’ best option.

Troublesome Health Food

Troublesome Health Food

How have you been, golfers? Recently you often take discount golf equipment outside when it is nice? Sit down to enjoy the golf humor.

This 85-year-old couple, having been married for almost 60 years, died tragically in a car crash. They have been in good health the last ten years, mainly due to the wife’s nearly neurotic interest in health food.

When they reached the pearly gates, St. Peter took them to their mansion, which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen and master bath suite, complete with Jacuzzi. The old man asked St. Peter how much all this was going to cost.

“It’s free,” St. Peter replied, “Remember, this is Heaven.”

Next they went out back to see the championship golf course the home backed up to. They would have golfing privileges every day, and each week the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on Earth.

And they can use taylormade r7 cgb max fairway wood free. The old man asked, “What are the green fees?”

“This is Heaven,” St. Peter replied. “You play for free.”

Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisines of the world laid out. “How much to eat?” asked the old man.

“Don’t you understand yet?” St. Peter asked. “This is Heaven. It’s free just as you can use Honma free.”

“Well, where are the low-fat and low-cholesterol foods?” the old man asked timidly.

“That’s the best part …

you can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and never get fat and you never get sick. This is Heaven.”

The old man looked at his wife and said, “You and your bran muffins. I could have been here ten years ago!”

God, if there are so many free things on heaven, everybody want to go to heaven, right!

Have a good day!
